Shimano splined crank and bottom bracket compatability chart
I was messing around with my cross bike again, and I needed a fat bottom bracket to work with my single ring setup.
I'm using Dura Ace 9 speed cranks (7700 or 7701), the kind that uses the spline pattern bottom bracket.
Oddly enough, you can't mix Shimano splined bottom brackets with cranks. The spline patterns are different, and it just won't work. Worse, you'll tear up a crankset if you use the wrong BB setup.
So here's a little compatability chart:
CRANK: | BOTTOM BRACKET: | |||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Dura Ace | Ultegra | 105 | XTR | XT | LX | ES70/71 | ES50/51 | |
Dura Ace | YES | YES | YES | YES | NO | NO | NO | NO |
Ultegra | YES | YES | YES | YES | NO | NO | NO | NO |
105 | YES | YES | YES | YES | NO | NO | NO | NO |
XTR | YES | YES | YES | YES | NO | NO | NO | NO |
XT | NO | NO | NO | NO | YES | YES | YES | YES |
LX | NO | NO | NO | NO | YES | YES | YES | YES |
Dura Ace = 7700 or 7701
Ultegra = 6500 or 6501
105 = 5500 or 5501
